{"id":12413,"date":"2016-03-26T16:43:11","date_gmt":"2016-03-26T16:43:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=12413"},"modified":"2016-03-26T16:43:11","modified_gmt":"2016-03-26T16:43:11","slug":"wg-vibrant-and-viable-places-further-12-8m-allocation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=12413","title":{"rendered":"WG Vibrant and Viable Places: further \u00a312.8m allocation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><u>The Welsh Government (WG) has allocated a further \u00a312.8 million from the Vibrant and Viable Places programme, bringing the total value of the regeneration scheme to date to \u00a3118 million.<\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>The Welsh Government writes:<br \/>\n<\/u>Twelve regeneration projects are set to receive a \u00a312.8m boost, creating more than 400 new jobs, 50 traineeships and over 220 new homes.\u00a0 Communities and Tackling Poverty Minister, Lesley Griffiths, has today announced projects including the creation of 16 two-bedroom flats in Holyhead town centre, a new employment hub on the Kingsway in Swansea and a family entertainment zone on the Rhyl waterfront are set to benefit from the significant Vibrant and Viable Places funding boost.\u00a0 The additional funding brings the total investment in the Welsh Government\u2019s flagship regeneration scheme to \u00a3118 million.<\/p>\n<p>A recent report found, between 2014 &#8211; 17, the programme will create more than 2,000 jobs, support 3,000 people into work and bring a further \u00a3300 million into Wales. It is also expected to provide 1,000 affordable homes and more than 2,300 homes in the private sector.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister said: \u2018This additional \u00a312.8m is a huge boost to twelve key regeneration projects across Wales which will make a very real difference to their local communities.\u00a0 As well as improving important local services, the funding will create hundreds of jobs and traineeships and boost Wales\u2019 housing supply.\u00a0 The Welsh Government is committed to creating jobs, supporting the economy and increasing housing supply and our flagship VVP programme is at the very heart of our efforts.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>The local authorities who will receive the additional Vibrant and Viable Places funding are Anglesey, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Conwy, Denbighshire, Flintshire, Gwynedd, Neath Port Talbot, Newport, Swansea, Torfaen and Wrexham.<\/p>\n<p>View the <a href=\"http:\/\/gov.wales\/newsroom\/housing-and-regeneration\/2016\/160324-12-8m-to-regenerate-town-centres-and-create-jobs\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">press release<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Welsh Government (WG) has allocated a further \u00a312.8 million from the Vibrant and Viable Places programme, bringing the total value of the regeneration scheme to date to \u00a3118 million.
