{"id":12318,"date":"2016-03-18T18:01:25","date_gmt":"2016-03-18T18:01:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=12318"},"modified":"2016-03-18T18:01:25","modified_gmt":"2016-03-18T18:01:25","slug":"pd-changes-office-to-residential-conversions-permanent-pd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=12318","title":{"rendered":"PD changes: Office to residential conversions &#8211; permanent PD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><u>The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has laid before Parliament the regulations which make office to residential conversions a permanent feature of permitted development (PD) rights from 6 April.<\/u><\/p>\n<p>The rights were first introduced on a temporary basis nearly two years ago.<\/p>\n<p>An amendment to the General Permitted Development Order includes a new condition which allows local planning authorities to consider the impact of noise from commercial premises on occupants of the housing.<\/p>\n<p>The time-limit on exemptions obtained for parts of London and Manchester will run out in May 2019. Planning authorities will be able to apply for Article 4 directions to remove the rights.<\/p>\n<p>The change to permitted development to facilitate residential conversions will also apply to launderettes and, from 2017, light industrial up to a maximum floor space of 500 square metres.<\/p>\n<p>New permitted development rights for mineral exploration which will allow for boreholes for specific monitoring purposes where there is preparatory petroleum exploration are also coming into force.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.legislation.gov.uk\/uksi\/2016\/332\/article\/1\/made\" target=\"_blank\">Read more&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) has laid before Parliament the regulations which make office to residential conversions a permanent feature of permitted development (PD) rights from 6 April.
