{"id":12206,"date":"2016-03-05T17:02:21","date_gmt":"2016-03-05T17:02:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=12206"},"modified":"2016-03-05T17:14:32","modified_gmt":"2016-03-05T17:14:32","slug":"ihbcs-new-research-note-rn-from-the-toolbox-market-intelligence-2015","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=12206","title":{"rendered":"IHBC\u2019s new Research Note (RN) from the Toolbox: \u2018Market Intelligence 2015\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><u>The IHBC has just added its first Research Note for 2016 to its practitioners\u2019 Toolbox, on England\u2019s local authority jobs market, entitled: \u2018<\/u><u>Market Intelligence Local Authority Conservation Specialists Jobs Market 2015\u2019 (RN2016\/1, Jan 2016).<\/u><\/p>\n<p><u>Author Bob Kindred MBE, IHBC\u2019s Research consultant, summarises the note as follows:<br \/>\n<\/u>This Research Note summarises the job vacancies advertised largely on the IHBC\u2019s web pages in 2015 under the section on \u2018<em>IHBC Jobs etc\u2019<\/em>.\u00a0 It provides a detailed picture of long-term trends in the market including job requirements, qualifications and levels of remuneration<em>,<\/em> together with regional variations.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Institute\u2019s data set now covers over 1650 posts over 18 years since 1998.<\/li>\n<li>In 2015 posts advertised in England returned to their pre-recessionary level of c2007 up 34% over last year and a year-on-year improvement since 2011.<\/li>\n<li>The unexpected emergence in 2014 of either temporary or part-time posts (or both) equalling those of permanent posts did not materialise again in 2015 and may be a one-off phenomenon.<\/li>\n<li>The average median salary advertised posts in 2015 was \u00a329,499 a fall of 3.4% on 2014 (and with the exception of 2012) a figure not so low since 2008 showing that salary levels remaining depressed.<\/li>\n<li>The requirement among local planning authorities for applicants to be members of IHBC is a rising trend. 65% of advertised posts in 2015 considered this to be essential or desirable (up from just under 40% in 2014) suggesting increasing brand recognition and the value placed on IHBC\u2019s professional status and its set of competences.<\/li>\n<li>Development management advice continued to dominate job functions with 61% of jobs identifying this as the principal role (up from 46% in 2014).<\/li>\n<li>Seven of IHBC\u2019s ten English Branches had more than ten advertised vacancies during 2015 with only the North, North West, and Yorkshire well below the vacancies elsewhere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>See\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/toolbox\/research_notes\/marketIntel16.html\" target=\"_blank\">RN2016\/1, Jan 2016<\/a><\/p>\n<p>See all <a href=\"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/toolbox\/research_notes\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Research Notes<\/a><\/p>\n<p>See the <a href=\"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/toolbox\/\" target=\"_blank\">IHBC\u2019s Toolbox<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/toolbox\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-11125\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-11125 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/09\/Toolbox_icon.jpg\" alt=\"Toolbox_icon\" width=\"63\" height=\"58\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The IHBC has just added its first Research Note for 2016 to its practitioners\u2019 Toolbox, on England\u2019s local authority jobs market, entitled: \u2018Market Intelligence Local Authority Conservation Specialists Jobs Market 2015\u2019 (RN2016\/1, Jan 2016).
