\"Worcs2016Flyer\"Booking is now open for the conservation professional\u2019s key annual training programme: the IHBC\u2019s Annual and Day School, this year in Worcester from 23-25 June and exploring \u2018People Power!<\/em> – Catalyst for change<\/em>\u2019, with early bird booking rates to end on 22 April.<\/u><\/p>\n

The IHBC Annual School is a \u2018must\u2019 whether you are new to the sector, an experienced conservation specialist, or an occasional practitioner.<\/p>\n

Andrew Mottram, Chair of the IHBC’s 2016 Annual School Committee, said: \u2018The IHBC’s West Midlands Branch is delighted to host the forthcoming Annual School in Worcester, a city of a wide and varied historic places.\u00a0 As such Worcester offers a perfect setting for our UK-wide exploration of the theme for this year: \u2018People Power: Catalyst for Change.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018We all know that without people our historic environment has no future, as it needs everyone working\u00a0together, from the local communities embracing their heritage to the\u00a0specialist practitioners who offer their experience and skills.\u00a0 Our 2016 School will focus on the full diversity of people who are passionate about conservation and the management of change in their\u00a0communities and on the ground, and the huge benefits that\u00a0conservation\u00a0can deliver locally.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u2018We will offer critical lessons from the most challenging projects from across the UK.\u00a0 We’ll also look at what the future of the sector holds in these parlous times, when public investment in our heritage is so hard to come by.\u00a0 And we will not be complaining about the huge challenges faced, but\u00a0will focus on offering real answers and solutions, rooted in local communities and supported by\u00a0properly skilled specialists and professionals.<\/p>\n

‘Altogether our programme will highlight both the critical importance of people in conservation \u2013 past and present \u2013 and the changes they can and do make to create sustainable, cost effective and viable futures for our heritage.\u2019<\/p>\n
