The National Museum Directors’ Council (NMDC) has reported on the inclusion of the right to visit museums in the Welsh Government proposals for indicators of wellbeing; engagement with heritage (under the Wales of vibrant culture goal) can be seen to be part of the wellbeing of future generations along with healthy community life, keeping active and having access to appropriate services.<\/u><\/p>\n
The full wording of the goal and its description is: \u2018A Wales of vibrant culture and thriving Welsh language : A society that promotes and protects culture, heritage and the Welsh language, and which encourages people to participate in the arts, and sports and recreation\u2019 (page 6 of the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act \u2018essentials booklet)<\/p>\n
The National Museum Directors’ Council (NMDC) writes:
\n<\/u>The Welsh Government is has put together forty proposed indicators, to allow it to measure whether the country is making progress under the 2015 Wellbeing Of Future Generations (Wales) Act.\u00a0 A booklet and an accessible animation, starring a fictional small girl called Megan, outline the ambitions of the Welsh Government for children born in the country today. \u00a0These include the opportunity to participate in the arts and visit museums.\u00a0 It also aims to create joined up thinking between public bodies to address poverty, social inequality and climate change.\u00a0 The Government welcomes comment until 11th January 2016 on the 40 indicators for national wellbeing and seven measurements to track progress.<\/p>\n
