{"id":10505,"date":"2015-06-19T09:28:08","date_gmt":"2015-06-19T08:28:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=10505"},"modified":"2015-06-19T09:28:08","modified_gmt":"2015-06-19T08:28:08","slug":"ihbc-builds-its-toolbox-stage-0-with-research-notes-on-jobs-justice-and-vat-etc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=10505","title":{"rendered":"IHBC builds its \u2018Toolbox\u2019, stage 0, with \u2018Research Notes\u2019 on jobs, justice and VAT etc"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><u>The IHBC has just launched the first stage of its developing practitioner\u2019s \u2018Toolbox\u2019 &#8211; an integrated online resource for built and historic environment conservation practice &#8211; with it IHBC\u2019s new Research Notes programme currently covering issues as wide-ranging as jobs market data, judicial review and UK policy on VAT.<\/u><\/p>\n<p>IHBC President Trefor Thorpe said: \u2018I\u2019m delighted that the IHBC is able to offer this impressive \u2013 and still evolving \u2013 \u2018Toolbox\u2019 resource to the wider sector as well as to our members.\u00a0 Already users might sense how it might become the \u2018one-stop-shop\u2019 to access IHBC-linked resources on any aspect of conservation information, knowledge, practice and standards.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Critically, though, we do know that financial resources are tight everywhere, and we\u2019re not looking to re-invent wheel.\u00a0 So the toolbox will complement existing conservation resources that reflect the IHBC\u2019s own take on conservation.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>IHBC Education Secretary David McDonald said: \u2018The Research Notes now being made available are the first stage of an ongoing research programme led for us by our Research Consultant and long-standing IHBC contributor, Bob Kindred.\u00a0 It is a particular privilege to be part of these new developments in our member support and services, and I know that these IHBC Notes are going to add a whole new \u2013 and, today, very necessary &#8211; layer to the credibility, recognition and consistency of built and historic environment conservation.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Bob Kindred, IHBC\u2019s Research Consultant said: \u2018Our Research Notes &amp; Guidance Notes programme offers current and recent research and advice into topics that we consider crucial to the promotion of good built and historic environment conservation policy and practice.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018In many specific areas of current policy and practice, there are information gaps. \u00a0Our Notes necessarily reflect what is happening any one time and some of the work we are doing is in the form of crowd-sourcing to uncover good work that IHBC members and others are doing but not easily accessible to the sector.
