Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly, IHBC director, today welcomed ASCHB\u2019s Conference, \u2018Today\u2019s legacy and historic places\u2019, which celebrates ASCHB\u2019s 40th year, to take place on 4 March in London.<\/p>\n
Se\u00e1n O\u2019Reilly said: “ASCHB, The Association for Studies in the Conservation of Historic Buildings, is a key player in the hugely diverse built and historic environment sector, though it\u2019s work is too often unsung. \u00a0We\u2019re delighted that so many of the IHBC\u2019s senior officers will be speaking at the coming conference, which celebrated its 40th year. \u00a0THis will be a unique opportunity for many conservation professionals to address the IHBC\u2019s compulsory CPD requirements \u2013 or at least progress their applications for full membership \u2013 and also \u00a0gain insights into our rapidly changing world of conservation.”<\/p>\n
IHBC member Charles Wagner, Strategic Historic Environment Adviser at the HCA, says of the conference:<\/p>\n
“The 2010 ASCHB Conference marking ASCHB\u2019s 40th year is designed to look at the wider historic environment rather than the more usual terrain of the research on and conservation of higher grade listed buildings and monuments. The conference will look at how we demonstrate the value of the historic environment to meeting sustainability targets and how historic buildings and areas can be seen as adaptable to lower carbon consumption energy and places for sustainable living. It aims to give heritage professionals some ammunition to argue the case for the retention and adaptation of historic properties and places in the future.”<\/p>\n
