{"id":1017,"date":"2010-01-28T13:27:49","date_gmt":"2010-01-28T13:27:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ihbconline.co.uk\/newsachive\/?p=1017"},"modified":"2010-03-24T13:28:06","modified_gmt":"2010-03-24T13:28:06","slug":"new-director-at-lbro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsblogs.ihbc.org.uk\/?p=1017","title":{"rendered":"New director at LBRO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Local government expert Claire Bridges  has accepted a one-year secondment as Director of Policy Engagement at  The Local Better Regulation Office (LBRO), the public body responsible  for better local regulation.<\/p>\n<p>Claire has managed a variety of  portfolios at the Improvement and Development Agency (IDeA), including  the Beacons Award Scheme and sustainable communities programmes.<\/p>\n<p>She  also managed a community wellbeing portfolio, primarily focusing on  community cohesion, equalities and diversity projects. Claire&#8217;s work  contributed to fundamental local government sector changes through local  area agreements, shareholder engagement and local strategic  partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>LBRO Chairman Clive Grace said: &#8220;Claire will play a  key role in shaping the future direction of LBRO and communicating our  messages about better local regulation. Her experience within local  government is invaluable and her appointment will strengthen our  relationship with all those stakeholders who are critical to our  success.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Notes<br \/>\nThe Local Better Regulation Office (LBRO)  helps local authorities improve their environmental health, trading  standards, fire safety and licensing services &#8211; reducing burdens on  businesses that comply with the law while targeting those who flout it.  It was incorporated as a government-owned limited company in May 2007.  Following the commencement of the Regulatory Enforcement and Sanctions  Act 2008 on 1 October 2008, it now operates as an executive  non-departmental public body, accountable to the Department for  Business, Innovation and Skills through the Better Regulation Executive.  LBRO is governed by an independent Board, has a staff of around 25 and  is based in central Birmingham. Our remit covers the whole of the UK and  we liaise closely with the devolved administrations to ensure our work  in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland is appropriate.
